Events Intern
Position Start Date: To coincide with the semester cycle: January, May, August
Description: Charleston Moves is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization working to create a more bicycle, pedestrian and transit friendly Charleston area. Our programs include advocating for policy and planning that creates a better environment for bicyclists, pedestrians and transit, educational outreach and encouragement programs, and resource development.
Events Intern: Interns at Charleston Moves gain experiences in a variety of fields including business, tourism, hospitality, marketing, non-profit administration, and fundraising. The events intern will work under the supervision of the Events Coordinator in producing Charleston Moves event programs among which include Bike to Work Day, Bike and Walk to School Day, Charleston Cycle Fest, and the Tour de Sprawl. Intern work may include providing administrative support to the Events Coordinator, assisting in event planning, research, volunteer coordination, event promotion and marketing. Students are expected to commit 10-15 hours a week to their internship.
Requirements:
- Candidates must be highly motivated with excellent written and oral communication skills. They should also bring to the internship a strong desire to learn.
- Computer skills: PC and basic knowledge of Office suite a must.
- Charleston Moves encourages students from a variety of disciplines to apply, including: marketing, hospitality and tourism, business and administration, graphic design, and the social sciences.
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

Summer Internship (early May-late August): Deadline: April 14 th
Fall Internship (late August-early December): Deadline: July 21 st

Interns at Charleston Moves: Interns at CM gain experience in a variety of fields, such as collecting and analyzing data, non-profit administration, developing personal skills, and research, and hone their talents in a professional setting. The internship project will be arranged according to the intern’s particular interest.
Students are expected to commit 10-15 hours a week to their internship for a 4 month period.

Community Outreach Internship

Our programs include advocating for policy and planning that creates a better environment for bicyclists, pedestrians and transit, educational outreach and encouragement programs, and resource development.
Community Outreach Internship: Interns at CM gain experience in a variety of fields, such as non-profit administration, developing personal skills, and community organizing and outreach while honing their talents in a professional setting. The community outreach intern will work under the supervision of the executive director on community outreach and membership building projects. Duties could include attending meetings of community groups on behalf of Charleston Moves, making presentations to community organizations, staffing booths and tables at community events, outreach efforts to local events, organizations and associations, assisting in maintaining membership and donor database and developing member and partner communications.
Students are expected to commit 10-15 hours a week to their internship for a 4 month period.
