Charleston Moves encourages self-propelled mobility by bicycle (and on foot) for the improved health and well-being of greater Charleston -- our people, neighborhoods, business districts and overall
economic competitiveness. We advocate for a safe and enjoyable bicycling and walking environment
and educate the public about the benefits of a bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly community.

advocating the following:

  • Provides the vision and leadership needed (both on the grassroots level and in seats of
    government) to make the greater Charleston area more bicycle-friendly by providing the
    following services and events to the local community:
  • Stages enjoyable and educational events such as rides, bicycle-themed parties, lectures,
    workshops to support the Battery2Beach Initiative and our general mission
  • Confers with public officials and others, to provide lobbying and legislative services
  • Provides consultation for any new civil engineering and transportation projects
  • Works with schools at all levels to educate and promote safe cycling for students of all ages.
  • Development of an enduring built environment that promotes physical activity and healthy communities.
  • Specific community projects and polices that provide safe environments for walking, bicycling and livability (walk-ability and bike-ability)
  • Advancement of projects and policies that promote equity and are economically, racially, and culturally inclusive of the diversity present within our community.
  • Positions on major community issues related to transportation, public transportation, land use, walking, and bicycling issues/projects.
